Together We Can uses a variety of modalities and therapuetic treatment options tailored to your unique needs. We offer a community-based approach to addiction treatment that allows residents the opportunity to build strong recovery connections, build a balanced and healthy lifestyle and gain the confidence needed to achieve personal goals and missions.
The Together We Can mental health care team is staffed by twelve accredited therapists and alcohol and drug counsellors, and a number of practicum students from local Colleges and Universities in the process of attaining Master's level certifications.
Our private counselling offers each participant the opportunity to discuss and unpack past traumas, current issues and learn new coping skills for the future. Together with case management, peer support, process groups, and recovery-themed exercises, our residents find their voice and are exposed to new ways of thinking and problem-solving
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems. It is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.
CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller, more manageable parts. You're shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.
Unlike other treatments that focus on directly altering the emotions, thoughts and responses resulting from traumatic experiences, EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory, and is intended to change the way that the memory is stored in the brain, reducing and eliminating the problematic symptoms. While residents briefly focus on the trauma memory and simultaneously experience bilateral stimulation (BLS), the vividness and emotion of the memory are reduced.
Neurofeedback (EEG Feedback) is Brainwave Biofeedback. Rapid recovery can be achieved for the relief of PTSD symptoms that include sleep problems, nightmares, flashback, loss of emotional control, depression, lack of energy, irritability, anger/rage, cognitive deficits, obsessive thoughts, addictive behaviours and the inability to plan for the future. Neurofeedback can be used in conjunction with other modalities, including psychotherapy and clients will be better prepared to deal with difficult issues.
