Together We Can is a registered Canadian Charity

What Registered Canadian Charity Means

As a Registered Canadian Charity, Together We Can operates under rules from the Canada Revenue Agency. This status comes with responsibilities and benefits.

  • Tax Benefits: When people donate money to Together We Can, they get a receipt that allows them to reduce the amount of income tax they owe. This encourages people to donate and support our important work.
  • Government Oversight: To keep this special status, Together We Can must follow strict rules from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). We have to show exactly how they spend their money, ensuring it goes directly to helping people with addiction. We do this by filing yearly reports with the CRA.
  • Mission-Focused: As a charity, Together We Can's main focus must be on helping the public. We can't use their funds to make profits for private individuals or businesses. Everything we do must be aimed at their charitable purpose: providing addiction recovery services.
  • Accountability: A board of directors, made up of volunteers, oversees Together We Can. They make sure the organization follows all the rules and uses donations wisely. This ensures that the organization operates ethically and effectively.
  • Public Benefit: The programs we provide, like treatment and education, are designed to benefit the public by addressing the serious issue of addiction.

How Our Non-profit Operates

Together We Can Drug & Alcohol Recovery & Education Society operates as a nonprofit service provider with a specific mission to support individuals struggling with addiction. We rely on a combination of funding sources, including donations, grants, and fees for services, to sustain our comprehensive recovery programs.

These programs are designed to address the complex needs of individuals facing substance use disorders, offering services such as residential treatment, outpatient support, and educational workshops.

Why Donate to Together We Can?

The All Together Fund

The TWC All Together Fund was established in 2020 with a noble purpose – to confront these issues head-on and to provide hope and services to those who are mired in adversity. The funds raised serve a multitude of critical purposes:

  • Subsidizing or providing free access to treatment services based on financial need.
  • Facilitating community education and support services such as the Family Education Group, Grief & Loss Support & Education Group, and the Partners Workshop.
  • Capital projects and property maintenance.
  • Advancing service development, including the establishment of a medical clinic, nutritionist services, and mental health support such as neurofeedback and EMDR.
  • Sponsoring invaluable programs like the Volunteer Peer Training Program and Enhanced Aftercare Program.

This fund's existence is a testament to the generosity of both our esteemed corporate partners and compassionate private donors. It is important to note that in accordance with CRA regulations, tax receipts are issued for the eligible amount of the donation.

The Fallen Sons Fund

Every life lost to the toxic drug epidemic fuels our desire to do more for those that deserve to recover from addiction.

The Fallen Sons Memorial Fund gives educational opportunities to recovering addicts and alcoholics volunteering or employed by Together We Can.
