The residents, volunteers and staff of Together We Can wish to extend our gratitude to the team at Vancouver Foundation for their recent grant of $10,000 through the COVID Response Grant. Donated funds will go towards purchasing sanitization, PPE supplies, gym and sports equipment. It continues to be a top priority for TWC to keep our residents engaged, participating, learning and growing. As every resident and organization in Canada works diligently to flatten the curve of COVID-19, sanitation and PPE supplies will go a long way in keeping the TWC community safe. Gym and sporting equipment will provide a healthy outlet for our residents to build physical strength, unity and cohesion among our population.
TWC strongly believes that a well-balanced physical, mental, social, and spiritual existence aide our residents in reaching their true potential. Contributing to addiction recovery since 1993, Together We Can provides a safe, empathic and encouraging jumping-off point for individuals to begin their journey to recovery. Our supportive counselors, staff and volunteers help to create and implement a personalized care plan that allows the resident to focus on growing in their own way, while learning valuable life and coping skills that can be carried throughout all aspects of life. We encourage the residents in our care to begin seeing their own personal value and how to share a message of hope to other suffering addicts. Together We Can thrives on community and has been able to continually fulfill its mandate with the financial and moral support of other organizations and individuals.
The Vancouver Foundation started in 1943 with one person, $1,000 and a vision. Alice MacKay had saved $1,000 from her secretarial job and wanted to help homeless women trapped in a cycle of poverty. Today, the foundation continues to create a local vibrant society by harnessing the gifts of energy, ideas, time, and money to make meaningful and lasting impacts in communities. Through grants and partnerships, the foundation aided the community in a variety of aspects. Their continued community research, youth involvement, as well as sharing skills & knowledge with its partners. We would also like to acknowledge the vital role the Vancouver Foundation played at our 2019 Gala. With theirs, and other donor support, Together We Can has been able to deliver the gift of treatment and counselling services for 20 people at no charge, so far this year. Thank you, Vancouver Foundation, for your on-going support by assisting the people in our care stay connected to healthy outlets, while we learn to navigate this new normal!
