Today, we get to say a fond farewell to one of our staff, as they move on to a brighter future for themselves, and continue helping others. Will Place has been a fixture at TWC for a few years after he completed treatment at Alliance house. It was at Alliance that Will found a passion for helping others, and started him on a path that saw him grow from working with new clients, to group facilitator, to counsellor and case manager.
His strive to bring out the best in himself has seen him do some amazing things, from completing school to earn his certification as a Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor, to competing in an international Iron-Man competition.
We asked some of our staff their memories of Will, and aside from all jokes about how good he looks in a wetsuit, everyone agrees that he is an amazing person. “He’s one of the kindest guys I have met. I have no doubt that if I needed Will’s assistance in anything he would be there for me.” says Mike, who has worked with Will through countless groups.
Sam Hall, our Client Care Manager, agrees, adding that “Will is someone who has integrity. He follows a code of ethics in his personal and professional life. He has empathy and compassion for those of us less fortunate. I consider myself lucky to be his friend.”
Will has made a concerted effort to improve the lives of everyone around him, whether they be a resident of Together We Can, a co-worker, or a friend. He leaves Together We Can a better place, and whomever steps into his role has big shoes to fill. Thank you for giving your all in service of others Will, and good luck in all of your endeavors.
