Indigenous Certified Addictions Specialist

Louie Grant is one of our addictions counsellors at Together We Can. He is registered with the FNWACCB and has acquired an ICAS III – SAAT III designation as a Level Three Indigenous Certified Addictions Specialist. Louis participates in a variety of traditional approaches and harnesses the principles and concepts embedded in Aboriginal spirituality for use in daily therapeutic practices and counselling sessions with our clients. He currently participates in daily smudging with clients at our main facility and also brings alumni and clients to sweat ceremonies on weekends with Old Hands, an Elder who mentors him in the community. Aside from these activities, Louie has also formed a relationship with the Native Court Worker and Counselling Association of BC and actively participates in a weekly Talking Circle, communication courses and ceremonial teachings. Louis is highly experienced at facilitating educational seminars on Aboriginal culture and teachings. Louis has a profound and unique ability to gain insight into client issues through empathy and a strong connection with the spiritual realm.


Michael BarnhardtMichael Barnhardt

Career Development Practicioner

Michael holds a diploma in Career Development Practice from Douglas College and has over seven years of experience working in the addictions field. Previous to being employed at Together We Can, Michael was employed by the Last Door at their Youth Program, Family Services Youth Detox and facilitated career development workshops at Inner Choices Job Club. In conjunction with his educational endeavours at Douglas College, Michael has also been certified in Satir Family Therapy and Conflict Resolution Training. Michael is a fun-loving, engaging and passionate individual who enthusiastically transmits his knowledge and experience of recovery and addiction to the men in our Residential Treatment Program. When he isn’t facilitating groups or helping clients on an individual basis, Michael enjoys hiking or playing racquetball with friends and family.
