Client Care Supervisor
Raised and educated in Langley, British Columbia, Monty Wood is on the Support Staff at Solid Ground, in addition to being a Co-Manager at one of our Supported Recovery Living “Second Stage” houses. Monty grew up as the youngest sibling in a large family and has always got along well with others; this experience ensured that he would seamlessly transition into the camaraderie of fellowship and drive his mission of helping others that his journey in recovery has required.
Following a years of working as a Journeyman Electrician in Fort McMurray, and also in the far North at Alert, Nunavut, Monty eventually got to a place that made recovery a necessity. Throughout his life, he has volunteered with several groups, especially the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). More recently, his volunteer focus has been geared towards addiction and recovery, which is how he found himself working for Together We Can.
Monty regularly attends 12-Step meetings and has become an active member of the recovery community. He has abundant empathy for everyone he meets at Solid Ground and prides himself on guiding newcomers towards the solution that he has found. On weekends and days off, Monty usually spends his time connecting with his family and friends, or enjoying outdoor activities with his wonderful girlfriend. In the summer of 2019, Monty and his partner were fortunate enough to complete an 8-day paddling circuit of Bowron Lake Provincial Park in BC’s beautiful Interior.
