TWC’s program director at Solid Ground, Caleb also manages the martial arts for recovery program. His own journey through addiction and recovery has provided him with a calling to work with people in recovery as a way to provide meaningful service to humanity. In addition to his counselling training diplomas and certificates, Caleb earned a Master’s degree and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria, a Political Philosophy/ Religious Studies (Hons) BA from UBC and completed a 2-year conflict-resolution program.
His graduate studies focused on the link between addiction and trauma in the treatment context. Caleb has been working in addiction and mental health for the past 20 years, both in private practice and as a contractor and consultant for the Ministry of Children and Families, Vancouver Coastal Health and the Portland Hotel Society. He really enjoys coming up with exciting ways to integrate addiction theory and research into practical treatment plans as he did when he designed the program at Solid Ground. Outside of professional pursuits, Caleb is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach and competitor who lives with his two daughters in Vancouver. Fun fact: he hopes to finish writing a book one day and to eventually earn a Ph.D. in something super impractical. Caleb is probably the best parallel parking instructor alive today.
