Individual, Family, Couples, and Marriage Counselling.
The stresses of addiction and recovery add to the daily stresses and issues in relationships, and can leave partners and family members feeling alienated, unloved, and unsupported.
Oftentimes in recovery, partners and family members live in different realities and operate behind mistaken assumptions of each other’s behaviours. We all have different coping mechanisms to deal with uncomfortable emotions and thoughts.
I believe in a dynamic approach to counselling that allows for the couple and/or family to interact and engage in new ways outside of counselling. Here, we will focus on learning new means of communication and interaction.
This includes the basic emotions of anger, forgiveness, and self-esteem. Addiction and recovery adds to the regular stresses of life and relationships as well, so we will also focus on how to deal with money problems, as well as children and family members.
“Counselling can help both partners in the healing and recovery process, but in order for sessions to be effective both partners must be able to understand the recovery process.” Carol-Anne Turbitt, B.A. (Psychology), Interventionist and Counsellor at Together We Can
