Together We Can – Holiday Spirit Project

Your support would help us to help men heal.

As Executive Director of Together We Can – Addiction Recovery & Education Centre, I would like to invite you, or your company to help us create positive experiences for the many men we have in our care during the coming holiday season.

We are asking for cash donations that will allow us to purchase Christmas trees, decorations, meals, clothing and gifts for men in recovery, and their families. We find that Christmas is always the toughest time of year, but by providing a positive, cheerful, and memorable experience, many of these men can begin to reconnect with their communities and families.

Our goal is to reduce feelings of isolation by allowing them to feel the spirit of the seasons; often for the first time in years.

Over our 25-year history, TWC has grown to become the largest licensed addiction recovery centre in British Columbia. Starting with 12 men, we now have more than 240 individuals in our primary care, and 17 transitional housing programs. TWC consistently operates at full capacity, but with the added pressure from the current overdose crisis looming over our communities, the demand has never been greater. Sadly, more and more families are being affected by this indiscriminate epidemic; recent overdose statistics are staggering with over 1100 deaths across BC so far in 2017.

The impact of your support would help us to help men heal. During the holidays, our men are volunteering in our community by shovelling sidewalks for seniors, helping put together food hampers for those in need, and delivering donated winter clothing to our city’s homeless population through the TWC Street Reach Project.

It would be amazing this year if we could ensure that each of our 26 residences has a decorated tree, decor and the holiday warmth that creates the spirit of the season, and elevates our men into the new year.
