Christmas Eve Turkey Dinner At Together We Can

Together We Can is getting in the Christmas spirit! With the help of some of our grateful alumni there will be a Christmas Eve turkey dinner on December 24th at Together We Can. First-stage clients and alumni will be treated to a turkey dinner exquisitely prepared by one of our alumni, Dwight, who has graciously agreed to volunteer his time over the holidays. He is a professional chef and loves to show his appreciation and gratitude for Together We Can by volunteering his time in the kitchen. Dwight and his wife Mina have owned and operated A Moveable Feast Catering  in North Vancouver since 1999, more information about their services can be found at here. The holiday season can be difficult and stressful time, especially for men who have recently entered our Residential Treatment Program. If you are a Together We Can alumni or first-stage client please join us in creating a safe environment of unity and gratitude. Together We Can wishes to commend everyone who participates in making the holiday season at Together We Can one to be remembered.

Originals Apparel

Why not show up to this year’s Originals Christmas Show in style? Outfit yourself or a first-stage client at Together We Can with the latest in our trademark apparel. All proceeds from apparel sales and ticket sales at Originals Shows will be donated to the Vancouver Recovery Club. Providing a newcomer with a shirt, hoodie, or toque is a great way to give during this holiday season. We strongly encourage Together We Can alumni to come by and make a connection with newcomers in our Residential Treatment Program. A small contribution on your part can provide our residents with the sense of unity we so adamantly try to foster here at Together We Can. Please feel free to come by Together We Can in person or fill out an order form available here. Toques are $15, t-shirts are $20, and hoodies are $40. We hope to see you at the Christmas Originals Show united with these common threads!

Olivier Moreau – A Tribute

Olivier Moreau sadly passed away on the 26th of November and a few talented musicians decided to express their grief and love for this wonderful man at the November Originals Show at the VRC. He will be sorely missed for his contributions in the Greater Vancouver recovery community and as a loving father, son, and brother. Olivier touched the hearts and lives of countless individuals and will be remembered by many. We in recovery can keep his legacy alive by lending a helping hand to those who still suffer in our community. We hope this tribute brings about fond memories of our beloved friend.

Gypsum academical model of human cranium isolated on white

I destroy homes and tear families apart

I take away children and that’s just the start

More costly than diamonds or silver or gold

The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold

Whenever you need me I’m easily found

I live all around you in schools and in town

I live with the rich and I live with the poor

I live down the street and maybe next door.

My power is awesome, just try me and see

But know if you do, you might NEVER break free.

Just try me once and I might let you go

But if you try twice I`ll take hold of your soul.

Once I possess you, you’ll steal and you’ll lie

You`ll do what you have to just to get high

The crimes you’ll commit for my narcotic charms

Will be well worth the pleasure you’ll feel in your arms

You’ll lie to your mother and steal from your dad

When you`ve broken their hearts you won`t even feel sad

You’ll forget all your morals and how you were raised

And I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways

I take kids from parents and parents from kids

I turn people from god and I separate friends

I’ll take everything from you, your looks and your pride

But I’ll be there always, right by your side

You’ll give up everything… your family, your home

Your friends and your money, then you’ll be alone

I’ll take and take, till you`ve nothing to give

When I`m done with you you’ll be lucky to live

If you try me be warned that this is no game

If I`m given the chance, I will drive you insane

I’ll ravish your body, your heart and your mind

I will own you completely, your soul will be mine

The nightmares I’ll give you while lying in bed

The voices you’ll hear from inside of your head

The sweats and the shakes and the visions you’ll see

I want you to know, these are all gifts from me

When it’s finally too late you will know in your heart

That you are mine fully and we shall not part

You’ll regret having tried me, they always do

But you came to me, not I to you

You knew this would happen, many times you were told

But you challenged my power and chose to be bold.

You could have said no and just walked away

If you could live that day over, now what would you say?

I’ll be your master and you`ll be my slave

And I`ll even accompany you go to your grave.

Now that you`ve met me, what will you do?

Will you try me or not? It`s all up to you.
